Evergreen Environmental Health and Safety was founded in January 1997 as Sub-S Corporation by Mr. Jon J.Pina, MS, CSP, a Safety, Health and Environmental consultant. Mr. Pina, the sole proprietor and chief consultant, has teamed up with several other consultants to serve his clients in the areas of training, inspection, plan writing, and countless other activities related to safety, health, and environmental issues.
With more than thirty years experience in safety management, loss prevention, construction and demolition, coal, chemical, steel, and hazardous waste abatement, Mr. Pina can observe cases from a well-rounded viewpoint of a Safety and Health professional, construction manager, and “hands on” worker. Among his most notable accomplishments, he has held the position of Construction Manager on many large-scale demolition projects. He also has demonstrated expertise in areas such as the operation of chemical plants and gained field experience as a union journeyman pipe fitter.
Mr. Pina’s additional experience and accomplishments also lie in the realm of education and academe, as he taught environmental earth and space science for five years in the Pennsylvania public school system. He presently holds a position at Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a Safety Science faculty member and a Pennsylvania State OSHA consultant.
Additional accomplishments include:
Sole management and safety supervision of a $30 million dollar environmental remediation and complete demolition project (1999-2001) of the last large steel mill in Pittsburgh city for LTV Steel Co., Cleveland, OH
Serving as an expert witness in over 75 litigation cases
Administering extensive safety auditing and training for numerous companies
Training for OSHA requiring certifications including HAZWOPER, Forklift Operation, HAZWOPER “train-the-trainer”, and Forklift “train-the-trainer”
Instructing other training courses including Defensive Driving, Confined Space, OSHA 10 hr. General Industry, and OSHA 10 hr. Construction, Asbestos Awareness, H2S, HAZCOM, Recordkeeping, and general safety
Extensive experience in Chemical Process Management Audits/development 29 CFR 1910.119
Conducting numerous Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
